Sourcing financial resources for your business.

Aside from making money, there’s another important part to growing your business that sometimes gets overlooked: taking advantage of opportunities available to you.

The thing about opportunity, though, is that it doesn’t always come knocking on your door. Once in a while, we need to be the ones to seek it out for ourselves.

It might mean having to network a little more, reach out for help when you need it, or take a course that will give you the skills to move your business forward.

No matter what kind of support you’re looking for, there are plenty of resources available to entrepreneurs these days, and it’s only a matter of knowing they exist. One area that’s valuable for business owners to be aware of is financial support and where to go to seek funding.

Earlier this month, I was part of a panel of speakers for the WEKH’s (Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub) webinar on Financial Resources for Women Entrepreneurs in Saskatchewan.

The event brought much-needed attention to a number of financial resources for female business owners available in our community.

I have to say, it was pretty inspiring to see that you could find support for almost any disadvantage or barrier. It made me realize there are so many organizations and people working towards reducing the barriers to entrepreneurship while also helping small businesses scale and thrive.

I wanted to share a few resources with you here, but I also encourage you to do your own research because there are different ways to get financial support for your business, depending on your needs.

Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan (WESK): A non-profit organization that provides women entrepreneurs in Saskatchewan with business advising, funding, training, networking and resources for starting and growing a business.

Startup TNT: Committed to growing the startup ecosystem across the Prairies, Startup TNT helps connect new and experienced angel investors with entrepreneurs and small businesses.

Rise: A national organization dedicated to empowering people with mental health and addiction challenges to achieve greater social and economic inclusion through entrepreneurship. They help individuals launch small businesses by providing training, mentorship and micro-financing.

The Well Collab: In addition to speaking about the Money Club, I got to share about The Well Collaborative and the work we do to uplift female business owners. At The Well, we help you dream, grow and scale your business through education, connection and community support.
